Lin Ruo-Ping’s well-known saying

PREFACE

　　我們是一群輔仁大學大眾傳播學系學生為主的製片團隊，名為「奔跑的蛋」，對於拍片我們有200%的熱忱，期望能對台灣類型電影開創新的路線。在偶然的機緣下，我們看了林斯諺先生所著之〈羽球場的亡靈〉，覺得裡面所傳達的理念很有意思，因此經過原作者同意後，決心挑戰將這部作品改編為學生電影，而這也是我們第一次拍攝較長之影片。

‘Running Egg’ is the name of our team of film making from the Department of Public Relations of Fu Jen Catholic University. We are devoted to film making with 200% zeal and wish to open a new path for Taiwanese genre movies. We came across the story The Apparition in the Badminton Court by Lin Sih-Yan, and were stirred by the main theme of it. We decided to turn the work into a student movie after asking for the author’s permission. This is the first time we make a movie of longer length.

原始故事結構來自林斯諺先生於其21歲時所撰寫之同名短篇小說〈羽球場的亡靈〉，曾於2004年獲頒第二屆人狼城推理文學首獎（現改名為台灣推理作家協會小說獎），並由明日工作室於2006年出版，收錄於《霧影莊殺人事件》（明日便利書屋系列），因其出人意料的詭計而廣受好評。故事主角林若平原為在大學裡教授哲學之助理教授，偶爾替人解開一些令人匪夷所思的事件，因而有哲學家偵探之稱號，由於負責太平洋師範學院殺人案的張組長對該案案情疑惑不解，透過同事唐組長之推薦而向林若平求助，林若平則以全方位之思考方式，跳脫一般人的推理侷限，僅透過張組長的闡述便能找到盲點，使全案迅速偵破告結。而於本片我們因應人力資源的關係，將故事改寫為林若平於其大學時期所遇到之案件，讓主角完全參與在事件當中而非旁觀者，並加入了一些巧思與趣味。雖然第一次拍長片過程一波三折，但總算還是完成了，希望大家會喜歡，也期待各界人士不吝指教與鼓勵。

The movie is based on the story written by Mr. Lin when he was 21. This work was the winner of the 2^nd Ren Lang Cheng Mystery Awards (now the Mystery Writers of Taiwan Awards) in 2004, collected into the short story anthology The Moist Mansion Murder Case which was published by the Ming-Rih press in 2006 as one cannon of the pocket book series, and gained great reputation for its remarkable trick. The main character, Lin Ruo-Ping, is a professor of philosophy and nicknamed ‘philosopher-detective’ for his interest in solving mysteries. In the case of The Apparition in the Badminton Court, Captain Jhang appeals to Lin Ruo-Ping, recommended by Jhang’s colleague, to aid him in solving the murder that took place in the Pacific College. Lin Ruo-Ping, sitting in the sofa and listening to Captain Jhang who explains the details of the case to him, exercises his outstanding detective skills and solves the case through pure brain power then and there. Thanks to shortage of money, we made some adaptation of the story. Lin Ruo-Ping is turned into a student and the case takes place in the days of his college life. He participates in the case personally instead of just sitting and listening to what had happened.  To make this movie, we met many obstacles but finally made it. We will appreciate your comments on our work.

人物介紹

CHARACTERS

林若平：LIN RUO-PING

太平洋師範大學大學部學生，羽球隊隊員，個性單純樸實，對於推理充滿自信，思考很有條理、性情鎮定沉穩，但碰到和感情有關的事就會變得非常緊張。

A student of the Pacific College, and a member of the badminton team. He is mild-tempered, composed, quick-thinking, and confident in detection, but clumsy at handling problems of affections.

江唯馨：JIANG WEI-SIN

太平洋師範大學大學部學生，羽球隊隊員，個性好強。一日清晨被管理員和兩名同學發現死於學校的體育館內，而她的屍體周遭圍繞著一圈羽球，排列形狀近乎正三角形。之後校內便出現許多傳聞，究竟她的死因為何？

A student of the Pacific College, and a member of the badminton team. She is found dead in the badminton court by the court manager and two students. Her body is surrounded by an equilateral triangle formed by three rows of shuttlecocks. Rumors are spread all over the campus. Why is she killed?

張曉竹：JHANG SIAO-JHU

太平洋師範大學大學部學生，羽球隊隊員，個性沉默寡言，不善交際，而江唯馨是她唯一的好友。

A student of the Pacific College, a member of the badminton team, silent and farouche. Jhang Wei-Sin is her only friend.

徐佑翔：SYU YOU-SIANG

太平洋師範大學大學部學生，羽球隊隊長，個性暴躁，是江唯馨的前男友。兩人交往一陣子後，徐佑翔竟同時與另一名羽球隊學妹凌緋音（小音）交往，劈腿之東窗事發後，徐佑翔便與江唯馨分手，沒想到才過沒多久，江唯馨便離奇死亡。

A student of the Pacific College, captain of the badminton team. He is irritable and Jhang Wei-Sin’s ex-boyfriend. He has a love affair with Ling Fei-Yin, another member of the team, when he is still Jhang Wei-Sin’s boyfriend. He breaks up with Jhang Wei-Sin after the amour is brought to light. And Jhang Wei-Sin dies mysteriously after all this happens.

許誌銘： SYU JHIH-MING

太平洋師範大學體育館的年輕管理員，喜愛穿著花襯衫。每天晚上都由他負責確認體育館內所有人員皆離去，才將門鎖上。於學生間有謠言傳說他與江唯馨的關係不單純。

A young court manager of the Pacific College who likes to wear a flowery shirt. His task is to check everyone leaves the courts and lock all the doors of the courts in the gym. Rumors go that he has untold relationship with Jiang Wei-Sin.

朱中至：JHU JHONG-JHIH

已婚的年輕羽球隊教練，是個敦厚的好老師。

A young married badminton couch, and a good teacher.

丘榮彬：CIOU RONG-SHAN

擔任太平洋師範大學體育系主任，為事件的關鍵證人之一。

The chairman of the Department of Physical Education, and one of the witnesses of the crime.

張組長：Captain Jhang

有正義感，但個性急躁易怒，在乎程序，認為一分證據才能說一分話。

A man of jusitice, but short-tempered and cares much about procedures. He believes that evidence talks.  

菜鳥警員：THE ROOKIE ASSISTANT

張組長的手下之一，像跟屁蟲一樣黏著張組長辦案。行事衝動，常仗勢欺人、逢迎拍馬，說話總是不知分寸。

One of Captain Jhang’s subordinates who likes to be at Jhang’s heels. He is impulsive, flattering, and often bullies others without self-awareness.

劇情簡介

STORY

太平洋師範大學發生了一樁駭人聽聞的謀殺案，還在就讀大學部的學生林若平，接到警方友人的邀請前來協助調查，偵辦這件案子的張組長對於這位突如其來的毛小子有些反感，他只想照著自己的意思辦案。

A horrible murder happens in the Pacific College. The college student, Lin Ruo-Ping, is called to the police’s aid by a friend. Captain Jhang, in charge of the case, shows defiance to this unexpected youngster. He only wants to act by himself.

這件案子發生在體育館內的羽球場，前晚羽球場一直都有球隊的人員練習，直到10點場地管理員來確定場內淨空，再將全館的門一一上鎖。但在第二天卻於球場內發現了羽球隊隊員之一──江唯馨的屍體，而她竟然是在無人能進出密室的狀態下被殺害！張組長直接推理，認為唯一持有鑰匙的管理員許誌銘嫌疑最大，但於警方到場後卻遲遲找不到許誌銘，直到稍晚竟於河堤的雜草叢中發現了他的屍體，另找到了一份遺書，上面說明了許誌銘殺害江唯馨的動機，全案即將終結。

The murder takes place in the badminton court in the gym. On the previous night, the court is full of team members until the court manager comes to lock the door at 10 o’clock. On the following day, one of the members, Jiang Wei-Sin, is found dead in the court, strangled to death, under the impossible circumstance in which no one could have possibly entered the locked court! Captain Jhang has his conjecture that Syu Jhih-Ming, the court manager who holds the key to the badminton court, is the most suspicious suspect. But Syu Jhih-Ming disappears after the crime happens, and later his body is found near the riverbank with a letter, which pours out the whole story of why he kills Jiang Wei-Sin. The case is nearly closed.  

雖然物理證據皆指向管理員，林若平卻仍然持疑，並初步鎖定前晚出席的羽球隊隊員和教練。也因此案更認識了平時就少說話的隊員張曉竹，若平從她身上看到了自己的影子，對她漸漸產生了情愫。一是為了正義，一是為了摯友的冤屈，若平和曉竹一同對此案持續調查，正當若平終於解開密室的謎團，他和曉竹也已被真兇盯上，兩人的生命出現了危機……

Although all physical evidences point to the court manager, Lin Ruo-Ping still doubts whether the case is so simple, and casts suspicion on other team members and the couch. He gets acquaintance with the farouche girl, Jhang Siao-Jhu, seeing his own image in her, and falls in love with her gradually…For justice, and to clear the victim’s imputation, Ruo-Ping investigates the case with Siao-Jhu. As Ruo-Ping unravels the mystery step by step, he and Siao-Jhu are targeted by the murderer and fall into crisis…
